INFLUENCES OF URBAN GROWTH ON URBAN HEAT ISLAND IN KUCHING CITY IN YEAR OF 2005 UNTIL 2017

Urbanization has contributed significantly to global warming. Kuching city grown rapidly in recent years as a result of favourable socioeconomic, political, and physical factors that will undoubtedly affect the urban climate environment. Landsat Thematic Mapper (ETM+) imagery from 2005, 2010, 2016, 2017 was used determine heat island effect by examining relationship between land-use changes land surface temperature (LST). The study discovered significant increase built-up area about 17.1 percent 2005 decline barren vegetation areas 41.6 5.1 percent, respectively. Additionally, this use changed 2017, LST increased year after year. findings demonstrate they are effective tools for planners environmental scientists because provide critical data monitoring growth patterns their impact on climate.
